I've amassed quite the short list of impressive, articulate potential guests - assuming they're willing to build an avatar. My gig will be the second Wednesday of every month, starting October 10, and I hope you'll join us -if not in Second Life itself, at least via BlogTalkRadio. And we certainly hope to grow a wider audience, both within Second Life for the "live" events, and via the audio available via BlogTalkRadio: there are some terrific discussions archived at the VSS site, and even more to come. But those who do use it regularly are diehard fans. Despite boasting some 15 million users, Second Life has never quite achieved the same mainstream market penetration as, say, World of Warcraft and many other MMOs, perhaps because the user interface is, frankly, kind of awkward and clumsy (and the rendering program can be maddeningly slow to load). In fact, I've signed on to host my own monthly hour-long discussions for VSS, joining Tom and the other VSS host, MSNBC's Alan Boyle. This is a project created by, written by, and managed by myself, Blau Rascon, and is intended to be an unbiased, impartial resource, as a service to the community.ĭid I miss something? Did a store move? Is there a glaring typo you just can’t stand to look at anymore? Feedback is always welcome! Please message me on Second Life Blau.Listen to internet radio with Virtually Speaking Science on Blog Talk Radio I wish to reiterate from the sidebar: This website is not affiliated with Kinzart Kreetures, Kinzart Productions, or Sylver Bu. Given this situation, I feel it would be easier for everyone for me to just present the raw data. It would be a conflict of interests and likely uncomfortable to other creators, having a competitor’s staff member write a review. Due to this, I will not be writing traditional reviews. I am also a staff member for Kinzart Kreetures. The Index was created to fill that void – I wish to provide unbiased, straightforward information that the community can use to research and discover new avatars. It is no longer being updated and, at last check, is offline, although the site can still (roughly) be accessed as an archive with the Wayback Machine. SLARF was an avatar review site, also largely focused on anthro avatars, which offered in-depth reviews. I am a former writer for Second Life Avatar Review Files (SLARF). Hi! I’m Blau Rascon! If you are a creator, or just want to know more specific information, please check out the Info for Creators page. Real Life™ can get in the way though, and this may slow down or speed up. I aim to get a few entries out per week, and usually do the video work closer to the weekends. Having them here would be great, but I want to keep this site focused on avatars for now.ĭo note that this is a one-cat show and I work a full-time job alongside my Second Life work. I’m not currently adding spare parts, bodies, etc. This includes “demi” avatars – these include entirely original parts, but require a third-party body to work. As long as it is essentially an avatar, it is welcome here. The site is not limited to any specific type of avatar! Most of the avatars are anthro, but I won’t exclude quads, taurs, monsters, robots, humanoids, etc. It is my goal to present the vital information for avatars with as little bias as possible. It is meant to be a community resource, to aid others in researching or discovering avatars, new and old.Įntries are not traditional reviews rather, they are simply collections of the key information on an avatar, such as the style, species, cost, and mesh / rigging. The Index serves as an information repository for Second Life avatars – largely, but by no means exclusively, anthropomorphic or “furry” avatars.
